The transition from X/Twitter to Bluesky was driven by several factors. Firstly, Bluesky offered a decentralized approach to social media, which was particularly appealing in the light of increasing concerns over data privacy and centralized control on larger platforms like Twitter. The promise of greater user autonomy and control over content moderation was a significant draw. Additionally, Bluesky represented a more technically innovative and experimental platform, appealing to those interested in pioneering new ways of online interaction. Lastly, the community and user base at Bluesky was perceived as being more aligned with personal values, fostering a positive, collaborative environment that was refreshing compared to Twitter’s often aggressively negative discourse.
