I was raised in an affluent household where financial constraints were never part of my reality. The pivotal moment that made me aware of my privilege occurred during a high school community service trip to a rural area. I saw firsthand the challenges many families faced, such as limited access to education, healthcare, and even basic utilities. While I was accustomed to technology and resources being readily available, it struck me that others worked tirelessly just to meet ends meet. This experience prompted me to reflect on the advantages I had in terms of education, opportunities, and security, which were largely out of reach for those I met. It was eye-opening to realize that the life I considered normal was actually a luxury for many. This awareness inspired me to contribute in meaningful ways and fostered a deep sense of gratitude for the life I had.
