One of the closest experiences I’ve had to a psychedelic journey is engaging in a form of deep meditation known as ‘guided imagery meditation’. It was a session where a facilitator used vivid descriptive language to guide my mind on a fantastical journey. As I settled into a relaxed state, my breathing slowed and deepened, paving the way for my imagination to take flight. In that state, I felt a profound sense of euphoria and interconnectedness with the world. Colors appeared more vibrant, and I experienced an overwhelming sensation of lightness and warmth. There were moments when the imagery became so vivid that it almost felt as though I was transcending the physical confines of my surroundings, creating a surreal reality much like the heightened sensory experiences reported during a psychedelic trip. The session concluded with feelings of peace and clarity, echoing the afterglow often associated with such journeys, but without the use of any external substances.
What experience have you had that most closely resembles a psychedelic trip in terms of pleasure or sensation?
