In the hierarchy of the Christian faith, priests are addressed as “Father” as a sign of respect and acknowledgment of their religious role and duties. However, familial relationships don’t change due to someone’s profession. As a parent, you still are the parent of your son, and he remains your son. In more personal or informal settings, especially among family, you would naturally refer to him as “son.”

When addressing him in the context of his religious work, such as in a church or religious event, it would be appropriate to call him “Father” out of respect for his position and role in the Church. Ultimately, the choice depends on the context and the comfort level of both parties. Some families may maintain the professional title out of tradition, while others may prefer the more personal reference, keeping their familial relationship foremost.
