When thinking back to my younger years, I had a significant crush on Macaulay Culkin. He was the star of the hugely popular “Home Alone” movies, and his mischievous charm and clever antics won me over. At the time, his character, Kevin McCallister, was the epitome of childhood independence, handling situations no kid his age usually could manage. Now, though, as I look back, it feels a little awkward admitting this crush due to how young he was at the time and how distinctly the passage of time has changed the public’s perception and the narrative of his career. His later life in the public eye was tumultuous, and while he’s since reinvented himself in various ways, it’s interesting and a bit embarrassing to reflect on that youthful infatuation linked so closely with an era of innocence and nostalgic family films.
Which celebrity crush from your younger years do you now find awkward to confess?
