When trying to get to know someone better, I like to ask the question: “What passion or hobby do you wish you had more time for, and why?” This question tends to reveal a lot about a person because it taps into their interests and dreams, often shedding light on aspects of their personality that might not be immediately visible. It provides an opportunity to learn about what genuinely excites them, whether it’s a creative pursuit, a sport, or any other endeavor that holds a significant place in their heart. Additionally, the “why” part of the question often uncovers deeper motivations and aspirations, offering insights into their values and priorities. This question usually facilitates rich conversations and helps build a meaningful connection, as it encourages the other person to open up about what truly matters to them.
What question do you like to ask in order to gain a better understanding of a person?
