It felt frustrating because, despite my transparency and the clear evidence provided, the disbelief seemed rooted in a lack of understanding about invisible disabilities. This experience highlighted the ongoing challenges and misunderstandings faced by individuals with disabilities, particularly those that aren’t immediately apparent. To resolve the situation, I had to engage in several discussions to educate my employer on the nature of my disability and the importance of trusting and supporting employees who require accommodations.
